What Comes Next, LLC Publishes Its First Company Look Back

For immediate release
ARDMORE, PA — October 14, 2026 — What Comes Next, LLC today published a Look Back on itself: a line-by-line comparison of what the company said it would do in an August 13, 2025 update to its supporters, set against what it has done since.
A Look Back is the closing step of an Evolution, the company’s method for behavior change: look at what you said, look at what you did, then decide what comes next. The company offers it to individuals as Look Back with the Coach. This is the first time it has run one on the company.
“Fourteen months ago I wrote to the people closest to this company and told them what we had done, what we were doing, and what came next,” said Jason Rashaad, founder. “A Look Back only works if you are honest with your own record, so here is ours, line by line. Some of it we did. One thing we let go. All of it is on the page.”
The full Look Back follows.
What we said, what we did, and What Comes Next?
The same Look Back a client gets at the end of an Evolution: the record first, then how it felt, then what goes on the screen.

Here’s a bit of an update on what we’ve Done, what we’re Doing, and What Comes Next?
Shaping habits over time tailored to the individual rather than one point at a time is at the center of our products so makes sense to me to run the business the same way.
It was written eight months into a stretch without meaningful income, after the founder sold his car in April, in the week before his first day teaching in Harrisburg. It closed with a request for advice, support, and a donation link.
“I have done this before, this way, and my way worked, and it’s working now.”Jason Rashaad, founder · October 14, 2026
What We Said, What We Did
Every commitment in the August 2025 update, in the order it was made.
-
Evolutions
DoneWe rolled out Evolutions, which is what I’m tentatively calling our structured habit formation framework.
The name stuck. Evolutions is the company’s method, with its own working vocabulary: a Transformation is the goal, an Evolution is a fixed stretch of work toward it, a War Footing is a challenge, and every Evolution ends in a Look Back. Every product the company has shipped since is built on it.

Run the company on it
DoneMakes sense to me to run the business the same way.
October 2026 is a War Footing called No Tricks, run in public with a post every day at ilookbetterthanyourdad.com/log. This document is the company running its own Look Back.
-
The patent
Let goI also confirmed submission of our provisional patent application.
The provisional, for an AI-driven longitudinal behavioral coaching system running on local commodity hardware, was allowed to lapse, after the legwork. Between December 2025 and January 2026 the company took it to a pro bono intake at the Penn State Law Intellectual Property Clinic; to Penn State Harrisburg’s Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, whose introduction opened a conversation with Ben Franklin Technology Partners; and to the Patent & Trademark Resource Center at the Free Library of Philadelphia. The read was consistent: real market potential, and a hard case for patentability, as software often is. The approach it described is now an active field. The company kept building, and kept the relationships.
-
The research
Under wayI will be submitting the research memo this month for my Drexel dissertation. My topic will be longitudinal adherence.
The research became a field study, with the company’s own app, The Spark, as its instrument. The Spark has been on the Apple App Store since May 2026. The six-week study closes November 8, 2026, progress goes to the dissertation committee monthly, and the defense is planned for March 2027.
-
A field study for WCN
DoneI am hopeful for a chair who will be supportive of the work we’re doing here at WCN, which I intend to be a field study for my dissertation.
The chair is in place, and the field study ran on software What Comes Next built and hardware it owns.
-
Teaching
DoneNext Saturday, I’m headed to Harrisburg to instruct MS in Techpreneurship students.
The founder taught as Corporate Faculty in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology through Winter 2026.
-
Income
Under wayI’ve gone the last eight months without meaningful income outside of consulting projects.
The founder won a six-month contract at Comcast that carried the company from December 2025 to June 2026, and the building continued through it. The company now sells its own work: a six-week coaching engagement, and Look Back with the Coach.
-
The ask
DoneSo here’s me asking: for advice, for support, for a share to someone who might say, ‘I believe in this.’
The August update ended on a donation link. The company’s payment link now sells a product instead: Look Back with the Coach, $10.06, a ten-minute call about how your week went.
Built along the way
- The Spark on the App StoreMay 2026. The habit-logging app, running against a model on hardware the company owns. No third-party AI cloud.
- A Day In The LifeA personal report from a short intake, generated on the company’s own hardware, at ilookbetterthanyourdad.com/ask.
- Coach’s ClipboardFrom a working name in the August update to working software: the company’s admin desk and an event kiosk.
- This press roomRebuilt in August 2026, self-hosted, with no third-party requests.
Where We’re Going
- No Tricks endsThirty-one days of the method, run in public.
- The field study closesAnalysis and writing follow.
- Rocky Run 5K, PhiladelphiaThe founder’s 27th race since 2013. The goal: beat last year’s 36:27.
- Da Nang, VietnamThe company runs from a laptop. That is the point.
- Dissertation defense
- Note to SelfThe Evolutions method for anyone: a habit collector on the laptop and a habit logger on the phone, with Splat, above, as its face.
What we’d put on the wall
- August 2025: “tentatively calling” it Evolutions. October 2026: Day 14 of No Tricks, run on it in public.
- The donation link became a price: $10.06.
- August 2025: no way to get to the first day of class. October 2026: the class is on the CV.
We did that. What Comes Next?
